There was God. Yeah, it's almost always God, isn't it? Anyway, God exists, and God is here to show us how you care for one another no matter how challenging you are when times are troubled, a classic recipe of His. Ah, but He realizes our modern tastes may need to be catered to a little more if His word is gonna get out again. . .

יהוה (Yahweh)
". . .[and] I saw the Lord, sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.'"-- 1 Kings 22:19 (NIV) / Lord Yahweh is the King of Kings, Lord Almighty, AKA, "God" as we presently understand it. After having overthrown his own Father, Lord Elyon, back in the 6th Century BCE, he's been the one in the driver's seat for humanity's fate. Not for much longer, though. Since time waits for no entity and the modern condition appears hostile to Yahweh's way of ruling, he's in the process of deploying his "Final Strategy" -- that is, creating a successor. Or rather, TWO successors hand-picked from his own pantheon. Whether or not they succeed though, well, that's a story for another day. . .
בעל-הדד (Ba'al Hadad)
“You saw with your own eyes what the Lord did [to the people] at Baal Peor. . .” — Deuteronomy 4:3 / The former King of the Gods during pre-Abrahamic times, Ba’al commanded the most power next to Elyon himself. It was at Yahweh’s radical proposal to shift the humans’ worship to monotheism that he relented his seat in exchange for being granted Sheol, the Land of the Dead. Or, better known as ‘The Pit.’ He was later tasked to mentor Lucifer in the left hand path (occult studies) to initiate his journey as the King of Hell.
הֵילֵל בֶּן־שָׁחַר (Lucifer Morningstar)
"I will raise my throne above the stars of God. . ." -- Isaiah 14:13 / The former Archangel of Light and now the self-proclaimed "King of Hell," Lucifer is one of the most iconic entities to emerge from a book that barely said his name. His current agenda is simple: make an empire out of humankind by capturing their worship by any means necessary. Before that, though, he has to put himself on the world stage as a contender for The Throne. If nobody wants to believe in God right now, that's fine. People can always believe in The Devil.
המלאך מיכאל (Archangel Michael)
“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise." -- Daniel 12:10 / Another one of the most iconic entities to have a name put to the face from The Bible. Considered the true born child of Lord Yahweh, Archangel Michael has spent most of his existence brokering peace between worlds. Many theorize he's destined by lineage to be next in the twisted game of Godhood, but it's hard to tell whose side Michael's on since he's decided to lend himself to being Lucifer's sword instead.
המלאך רפאל (Archangel Raphael)
"I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand ready and enter before the glory of the Lord." -- The Book of Tobit / Another famous icon in Yahweh's arsenal, known most prominently for his healing capabilities and sturdy shielding during combat. A lot of his work in supporting the multiversal shenanigans of his cohorts goes unseen, often keeping things from going too far off the rails. As for what he's gaining from it, well, one must ask who he has his eye trained on. . .
המלאך גבריאל (Archangel Gabriel)
"'Son of man,' [Gabriel] said to me, 'understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.'" -- Daniel 8:17 / The Messenger and the primary manager of Yahweh's new creations in Heaven. He believes in the sanctity of life and strives to preserve it whenever he can, even if he doesn't have all of the information about the species in question. So naturally, watching one of his closest friends flip sides can be a bit concerning. . .
המלאך אוריאל (Archangel Auriel)
"'Hide yourself! A flood is coming upon the whole earth.'" -- 1 Enoch 10 / The Eyes of God. He documents everything in his mind with his enhanced vision as recordings for Lord Yahweh to review. In his mind, he acts in accordance with the rules as written; he understands the game unfolding yet it still pains him to watch the Apocalypse come true.
✦ In the Beginning, God created --
— the multiverse? Yes, of course, He wouldn’t stop at just one universe to control! There’s infinite strings trapped in an infinite dance and He is making them all move in accordance to Divine Will. There’s just one problem: the entity we call God isn’t a fixed, permanent being. God is just a title that gets passed down by whoever is able to sit on The Throne that binds all living beings to it. And right now, the one sitting on The Throne is running out of time to guide humanity into the next stage of their spiritual evolution.
Now God here (better known as Lord Yahweh) has to go on a quest. A simple one, but one he’s hedging all his bets on to save the humans and prove that there’s still miracles to be found. In order to do it, though, he can’t be the one leading the charge anymore, the Throne needs new blood! And so, out to capitalize on his adversary’s resurgence in infamy and the crumbling of old structures, he sets his two oldest disciples — Lucifer Morningstar and Archangel Michael — out on a cosmos-wide quest to re-capture the human spirit and show them anything is possible with a little bit of faith.
